Weaving Technique (Tutorial and Fly by Bill Shuck)
I asked Bill Shuck about his woven fly technique and he kindly sent me a drawing illustrating the technique, along with one of his flies, showing what the finished fly should look like. Check these out (click on the images to see them in greater detail).
Thank you Bill. I wanted to share these on the forum, so that everyone can benefit from the tutorial. When time allows, I will try my hand at this technique and share the results (good or bad). I would love to see others on the forum to do the same, and post the result to this thread. It could be a nice interactive effort.
Stay tuned.
(Thanks Bill - You set in incredibly high bar. )

Great piece of information, very neat and easily followed drawings.
I sat in Lawrence Finney's tying room as he demonstrated wire weave bodies for me. His hands moved like one of those Japanese chefs at a grill! I didn't really pick it up from there, but it was way cool to watch. Still have the fly and it is neat as a nine-pence.

Bill, this is a very cool post. That diagram is very clear and the fly is awesome. It's a very nice mottled effect. I can't imagine having the patience to do this but I guess like anything else with a little practice it could be a quick process. I have a couple of your nymphs with this abdomen, and to look at them it seems like a tough method to understand. You make everything look easy.

This is another post which had gotten buried in the "Fishing Cabin" section of the forum. I've gone back thru all 96 pages of the Fishing Cabin and moved various SBD/tutorials over here. It's nice to have all of these great teachings in one place.
It is nice to see these posts again.
