This is a variation of my friend Bob Wolfe's great Chironomid patterns of Trout Candy.
I tied this after making some of Bob's Black and Ruby TCs for a friend going to East Lake in Central Oregon.
Next I wanted to add some thread color variations wrapped in Clear Stretch Magic for my own midge boxes. Researching on Trout Nut's Midge Pages 3 & 4 (http://www.troutnut.com/common-name/224/Midges), I found a couple of specimens from Washington that caught my eye because of the color shifts along their bodies from yellow, green, and to brown.
So here goes my variation...
RIMG1748 by William Lovelace, on Flickr
Hook- Dai Riki 135 #16
Body- UTC 70 thread in thirds- Yellow, Light Olive, and Rust Brown
(Overwrapped in .5mm Clear Stretch Magic Beading Cord)
Rib- I brought the yellow thread forward over the olive and brown before wrapping the cord to the bead, and
finishing the collar to the bead with the brown thread.
Glass beads- Silver lined Rootbeer and Clear 11/0
