I have been experimenting with Nano Silk 18/0. I am trying it on size 22 and 24 midge emergers.
This hot spot is a size 22.
The others are size 24 Top Secrets developed by Pat Dorsey
Splits easy for the Split Thread technique as well.

I'd need a magnifying glass to tie it on a tippet.

I tie all my flies with a magnifying glass and have tied as small as size 28. However after spending more time on the bank trying to get the things out of my fly box then tying on my leader I decided life is too short. Quite a bit short in my case.
I now only tie #20 very occasionally and usually stop at #18 but tie them ‘short’. I have also trained all the fish I target to get used to larger mouthfuls.

PS I am still blanking

I have never used the Spider Thread.
A couple spools of the Nano were given to me, and I just had to try it out. I like it, but for me, the micro patterns are all I will use it on.

Wayne,
What is the color of the Nano silk you used for these flies? Are you then coating it with UV Cure?
There is a great shine, especially on the Hot Spot Midge.
Thanks- Ken

Ken, I used Brown Nano Silk for both patterns. The top fly does have UV Resin. The Hot Spot is Veevus Ornage 16/0

DUBBN,
I am only using the Spider Thread on small flies as well.
Looking into Nano Silk, I know I will probably never buy any after learning it is just a fancy name for small GSP. I use GSP or Kevlar on many of my saltwater flies or for spinning hair.
