It’s one of my favourites down here. Not quite the original thus a variation.
T2302 hook in sizes 8 to 16, the larger sizes I weight quite heavily for fishing in faster boisterous water, the smaller sizes not so much. You can add a bead happily enough to this pattern if you are so inclined.
Tail is grey Antron fibres, body of lighter possum with a copper wire rib, the thorax is darker possum. You can can the colours to suit your local insects, but I like to have a contrast in the colours of the thorax and body.
I used to tie this with a wing case of the same Antron as per the tail but I now, with a nod to Atherton and his brighter wingcases, use peacock sword or those lovely green-blue breast feathers. I think that makes the fly a whole lot more attractive. To me and the fish 😆. In fact I use those feathers more and more for a lot of my regular nymph wingcases....

Did you treat the sword fibers with anything, or is that the way the look when tyed in as a wing case?

Wish I’d thought of that...

Good stuff! ;)

Nope, just natural... the blue-green feathers are even better.... they really pop..
