Dirty Rat Nymph
Hook - Daiichi 1710 Nymph Hook (Size 14)
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Light Cahill)
Rib - Belding Corticelli Pure Silk Button Hole Twist (Pinkish Tan)
Abdomen - Dirty Rat Dubbing Blend (muskrat underfur/pale apricot; seal fur/yellow; seal fur/red) - roughly equal proportions
Tail/Dorsal Strip - Five or Six Pheasant Tail Fibers (Natural Dark Brown)
Wing Case - Five Strands of Peacock Herl (pulled over the back of the thorax - creating impression of bursting wingcase)
Thorax - Wool-Ease Chunky Yarn Dubbing (Walnut/127)
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge Flank (Natural Brown Barred)
Materials are listed in the order they are used/tyed in.
A couple close up photos of the "Dirty Rat" dubbing blend. The color of the dubbing blend looks slightly different, depending on the intensity of light. A feature that I think will work well, in a fishing fly. The combination of muskrat underfur, blended with dyed seal fur, has a nice translucency and natural camouflage quality. I really like how natural the color blend looks in a nymph pattern. Definitely worth exploring some more.
Direct sun (bright sunlight)
Partial sun (partial shade)
Indoor Incandecent Light
