Bug Gut Caddis
I finished refilling my micro pattern box after yesterday's trip. Size 22 Baetis and size 18 Midge larva. Size 18 isnt really micro. I decided to tie a Caddis. The bug gut was already laying out.
Hook - size 16 Caddis
Thread - Veevus 16/0 Light Olive, A18
Rib- Super Twist Madeira, House fly colored. I use it for nymph legs.
Abdomen- Translucent Bug Gut
Thorax- SLF Squirrel in natural Grey
Collar-Olive Hen, Brahma
The abdomen was colored with a light Brown Sharpie, then covered with Loon UV Finish (FLOW).

those are just spectacular... I may have to get some of that gut....
Re: Bug Gut Caddis
It's all about midges this time of year. Still, a size 16 Net Builder caddis can make a dandy attractor.
I only managed 14 to 17 inch Browns on the Gunnison yesterday, but quantity can be a quality unto itself.
If they weren't chowing down on a size 22 Money Midge, they were taking a dubbed or Bug Gut Net Builder.

DUBBN, Howdy;
Wow, Drop a few of them in the water and the trouts be beating
each other with sticks to be the first to get one. Beauties 1-n- all!

Dubbn.... I've tried to locate the "house fly" color of Madeira... on their website, I can't find a color with that name... do they call it something else.. or do you have one of those materials that doesn't exist anymore?
Re: Bug Gut Caddis
I bought it at an embroidery shop where they make Letterman's jackets. I didnt look for a number.
I did see a number that had been printed where the bobbin holder pokes through. Looks like 30 or 38.
If you cant find it , send me your address in a PM. I will send you 20 feet.
The number 270 may be on it as well.
Good luck
