Nymph ——— > Flymph Conversion
Hi All, I’ve been studying a little of a John Atherton the last few yrs thanks to a mentor, Michael Gula. While well known for his dry flies, the lesser known Atherton nymphs, no.1, no.2, no.3 are of particular interest at the moment. In addition to his nymphs, I’m curious of the opinion of converting his nymphs into flymph patterns as well...sacreligious ? Perhaps. (pictured is his no.2)

Works for me too. But, I would switch to a different hook other than the one pictured unless you believe in hit and miss fishing! Well tied though!

There is an excellent article about John Atherton in the American Fly Fisher magazine

What did you use for the wing case? I'd like to give these a try. Definitely looks like fun.
Carl Sanders (Oldhat) has wandered off on this path too...

Sacrilegious? Perhaps. But if we are going to hell, at least it will be with good company.

They all look like beautiful flymphs to me.

Ray-of course Carl has already been down this road. Beautiful bug! Thanks for the article too!
Roadkill-just nymphs for now!

Re: Nymph ——— > Flymph Conversion
I did a few feeble attempts several years back of Atherton-style nymphs and soft hackles:
