Wayne - Are you targeting a specific insect with this pattern, or would you consider this an attractor/searching pattern? I'd love to hear the thinking behind this pattern, and how you fish this.

I'm just a sucker for beads on soft hackles. The size 22 is impressive and the hackles are really nice.

It mimics large midge emergers in my local rivers. Winter for me, is a time of small baetis nymphs and midge larva/emergers.
Most of the time the midge patterns I use are smaller and I use mole as a collar rather than hackle. The hen hackle was for fun but still produced some trout.

I just loved the hook you used so I had to tie up a couple of Dips during the Rose Bowl.
