Here is my latest variation of the Thompson's Delectable Chironomid. It has been a a staple in my fly boxes since 1986 when I saw the pattern in Flies of the NORTHWEST by the Inland Empire Fly Fishing Club in Spokane, Washington.

Thread- Black 3/0 Monocord
Body and Thorax-Dubbing made from Sugar Bush Bliss Midnight yarn (70% fine Merino Wool, 20% Mulberry Silk &10% Cashmere)
Rib-Silver Twist
Gills-White Ostrich herl

The silk will make it a killer .
Wonderful yarn, I wouldn't mind wearing it myself.

"The TDC nymph pattern listed was tied on Mustad hooks 3906B, 9671 or 9672 in sizes 6-16." I have only gone up to a 3xl #8.
