I have been using bright hot spot patterns as attractors for the past week. Your Pink Squirrel would have worked just fine.

I tyed a variant of your Pink Squirrel. Longer shank hook , size 18, and a CDL tail. The dubbing is SLF Squirrel.
If the temperatures do not get too brutal in the next few days I will try them out. I am positive they will perform well. Perhaps not as well as the originals, but well enough to make me happy.
Thank you for the ideas.

Drop me a PM with your name and address and I’ll send you some of the real dubbing, wire and pink chenille.

Bob & Wayne - Thank you for sharing these patterns with us. I really like the plump buggy profile on the larger flies, and the longer slender versions. All "catchers" for sure.

Bob, I wish I could post photos but I forgot my camera today. I used your Pink Squirrel this morning as an attractor. It did just that. I managed a couple Browns on it, but quite a few fish took the small baetis nymphs (Slim Shady) instead. Your pattern worked exactly as I had hoped, but pretty much how I knew it would. I have confidence in it now, and to me, that means everything. Thank you sir!

joaniebo is the Pink Squirrel Ambassador.

I do fish the Pink Squirrel nymph in the Driftless waters but I tend to use Flashback Pheasant Tails and Frenchies as much as the Pink Squirrels (when I'm not fishing soft hackles / spiders). As you know, the
"Pink Squirrel Daddy" is a friend and years ago, taught me how to mix his dubbing and tie his nymphs.

The fish were on your pattern again this morning.
