Melted Cased Caddis
Hook - Nymph style
Thread - Chartreuse
Case - Root beer pearl chenille or crystal chenille
Legs - Black hackle fibers
Head - Charteuse thread
UV Resin
Tying note - The chenille is tied on at the hook bend,
wrapped forward and tied off. Cut off thread.
The chenille is then melted using a lighter to create the case.
Reattach tying thread and finish the fly
Method found on a youtube video.
Flytiers sure have a way at making things difficult
Re: Melted Cased Caddis
I love this fly. It looks like bacon for trout.
Re: Melted Cased Caddis
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

That is cool!
Does melting the chenille add any weight or density to the fly?
They hang very low in the drift when they become dislodged.
Mike, Bacon fixes everything.
