Nicely done. I always have trouble making the thorax look right using the split thread. Think I'll try the old dubbing loop now. Thanks for posting.

I think those flies are gorgeous. What would the benefit be of using a split thread dubbing as opposed to a loop? I assume that the split thread method would add less bulk to the fly (?)

When I watched Jim dress the Triple Threat Caddis at his shop, and tied a few under his watchful eye, a dubbing loop was used and each wrap was preened back as the next one was wrapped. Result was a very buggy, spikey thorax.
