Twenty Incher

Forum member DUBBN was kind enough to send me links to tying videos for several popular and effective Western nymph patterns. Here's my take on one called "Twenty Incher", which I tied on a Size #8 hook and made a couple of material subs: braided gold tinsel for the rib (instead of cord or floss) and red grouse for the legs (instead of partridge).

Great looking fly! I would probably keep it simpler and lose the wing case and palmer the hackle like a Brooks Stonefly nymph. I know I am going to leave some of them in rocks on the bottom as I dredge my Salmonfly nymphs.

Outstanding Bill! 35 years of tying and fishing this pattern, and I have never tyed one so pretty! You really do outstanding work!
We all have our favorite Stone patterns, and the 20 incher is in my top 2.
I tyed some D-Rib Stones this Spring but was unable to get out and try them. Pretty easy. I did Golden and Giant nymphs.

Bill,
Exquisitely done! Now, the only way to top this masterpiece is to have you casting it to some waiting western beauties in the "Twenty Incher" range! There's a deadly combo!
We are constantly amazed at your creativity and talent in both arena's Bill and it is exciting to see your name in the marquee!
Please keep creating and renewing and we will keep admiring!
Thanks for sharing this beauty with us!

Bill, beautifully tied. such a workhorse of a pattern and you've done it with elegance. I can see how this would be a standard pattern in a lot of boxes.

This was the first nymph pattern I tried my hand at, let me tell you it looked nothing like this! Nice looking fly Bill.

Very nice Bill. This is a very popular nymph for steelhead in my area. Should treat you well.

Really nice pattern, exceptionally tied.
That would fish very well here.
