Tying these for my Tenkara box. They fit the simple style tenkara represents well I think.

This is natural pheasant tail dyed golden.

Agreed. I think these would be well suited to Tenkara. I'm tempted to tye them with the legs pointing out over the eye of the hook, to be like a reverse hackle common in Tenkara flies.

A Teeny Kebari perhaps?

Maybe. Not sure you would get the movement you need. Worth a try though. I do also tie these splitting the legs in half and out to eather side. This pattern seems to be a hit or miss for me in traditional fishing. Sometimes a really really hot fly and sometimes nada. Seems to never be an in between experience. Haven't quite figured it out yet. I want to see if the fly control that tenkara gives you will help here to make the pattern more " lively". I was also thinking a little marabou or cdc puff at the top of the thorax might help.

Could be a cool swap actually. A Teeny Swap where this pattern must form the foundation of the fly you submit but any additions accepted.

I still remember how to tie Teeny nymphs and.... still have some in one nymph box.

Carl - I'd be interested in participating in a swap like that. Would you care to host it? The swap might take your mind off your new heathy life style.

I would be up for hosting the next swap, whatever it may be. A swap with the killer bug as a base pattern may be fun as well.

I'm game for that too. I received a card of the Chadwick's 477 substitute yarn from Paul (ThirdMeadow). This would give me a chance to tye some more Chadwick and Partridge soft hackles.

I got a "broken record" idea for a teeny nymph.... a royal coachman teeny nymph..... I'll work that royal coachman idea to death.

I've tried a copper Teeny a few times. I wrapped heavy copper wire, think copper john, around the abdomen and used the pheasant for the thorax and legs. It's a good heavy simple nymph.

Cool idea. I like the idea of having the Teeny style thorax and fore legs (pheasant tail tips). Neat.
