I’ve never caught a grayling. It’s on my life list…
Thank you for sharing all the beautifully tied flies, and photo of the grayling fin. Lovely.
Keep living the dream Wayne.

i have only caught one Grayling in three rivers many years ago.
I hooked it in the Firehole, then it swam in both the Madison and the Gibbon before I landed it!

My only Grayling came from Grayling Creek on the way from West Yellowstone to Jim's place (Campfire Resort). I was headed back to Jim's one night, doing about 70 or better, and as I was crossing the creek I hit a Baetis hatch that coated my windshield like putty. Tried to use the wipers and washer, but that just made it worse. Finally got stopped without wrecking the car. Thankfully I had an ice scraper to clean the windshield, along with the washer and wipers. The next night I went back to the creek with a rod in hand. For my troubles the night before, the creek gave up two nice grayling. The only two I've ever caught.

Wayne,
Did you catch your Grayling in a lake/reservoir or in a stream?
Thanks- Ken

Ken, I caught them in a reservoir and the stream that feeds it.

Wayne,
I've been fortunate to catch Grayling twice. I caught 1 in the Joe Wright Reservoir in CO and I caught some in a lake near Pinedale, WY, but I can't remember the name of the lake.
Tight Lines- Ken

Ken, there are three lakes on the Grand Mesa (a mountain) and the drainage that connects those 3 lakes, that hold Arctic Grayling. The lakes are , Silver, Kitson, and Bonham. The lakes are 45 from my house.
