Halfback (Flyfud1)

I got home last Tuesday to find my swap flies. A very impressive set of flies.
The Halfback, tied by Flyfud1, immediately caught my eye. It is a pattern that I have used in larger sizes since I saw the pictures and recipes for it, and the Fullback. I believe they both appeared in the early 1980’s, in Fly Tyer or Flyfisherman magazines.
Flyfuds fly captured the original recipe perfectly.
I tie mine in much larger sizes. I use sizes 10 - 8, and fish the pattern as a Stone Nymph. Being it is tied with cock hackle, I have also used it as a Green Drake dry. I have also used it as the dry in a dry/dropper combo on still waters.
A flood of memories came back to me when I first gazed upon his pattern.
Thank you Flyfud1. When I tie this pattern again, I hope it is as close to the original as yours. I also hope it delivers fish to me the way it did many moons ago.
I apologize for the photo. It does not do the fly justice.
