I could have sworn that Dubbn posted a couple flies in the last week or so, caddis pupa that had hair collars or hackles... can't find them anywhere to comment on them...but I too have been using micro pine squirrel zonkers and dubbing loops to make collars and hackles... so with no where else to put them....

They didn't look nearly as good as your patterns! They garnered no interest so I took them down.

Very nice. Tying on fur collars is one technique that I am really terrible at. Yours look amazing!

Well you know they caught my eye and interest...sorry I didn't comment sooner so they'd still be on the forum... I'm always looking for new caddis patterns and yours are always top notch.

Great ties and thanks for sharing. Do you fish those on the swing, dead drift, or both depending on the situation?

Otto... I fish these on the swing most often. Around here, (except for Roadkill and Variant) I'm about the only person I see fishing and swinging soft hackles on a regular basis. Except in the dead of winter, the first thing I'm going to tie on is a pair of soft hackles on the Crooked, Metolius, or Deschutes rivers; especially, if there is a hatch going on. One of the beauties of fishing flymphs, or other wingless wets, is their versatility. I'll mostly fish the traditional down and across and swing, but I'll also cast them upstream, fish them like dry flies, or add them as droppers on an indicator rig. These will most likely become the bottom fly of a pair, with a smaller soft hackle dropper matching whatever bug is present at the time. Thanks for the complement.

The one in the middle reminds me of one of DOUGSDEN flies. Very nice!

I like the look of the pine squirrel collar Ron! This is going to add a whole new dimension to my tying of Whitlock's Red Fox Squirrel Hair (now as a collar) Nymphs! Where's my pine squirrel?
