Daiichi Hooks - New stock
Hi guys, Been awhile since I've posted anything here, my apologies! I wanted to reach out and ask you guys about any noticeable quality issues on new stock Daiichi hooks. Finishing, tempering, etc... I've heard some things about the Daiichi brand in the US and quality going downhill. Would be anxiou...

Re: Upstream Wet Fly
Fishing small Partridge and Hare's Ear's upstream on the Firehole with Shaner is probably one of, if not the best fishing outing I've ever had. That PMD emergence followed by White Miller's was ridiculous to say the least... in the best sense of the phrase. Spent a week in MT/WY and spent the majori...

Re: Stripped Peacock Quill Bodies
My experience with UV resins is that they look great when the fly is first tied but 3-6 months later the coated part of the fly has turned fuzzy and milky (not clear). Have you used this particular product long enough to comment on this? Tom The Solarez product I was referring to keeps it clarity a...

Re: Stripped Peacock Quill Bodies
There's nothing wrong with the Polish Quills. I sometimes strip and dye my own but, it's quite time consuming...! Nothing wrong with that, just sometimes I prefer to crank out flies at a quicker pace. On the point of durability... we all know peacock is not the most durable material. I'm not sure ho...

Re: Starling quill
Excellent thread.
You know, I've never tried tying in slip wings forward and then bringing them back over to finish the fly... I'll have to give that a go later tonight.

Re: Soft-hackle caddis
Speaking of brookies... this one was from earlier in the year. Don't think it was on a soft hackle though... probably on one of those dreaded beaded nymph flies!

In the North Central part of Pennsylvania on Pine Creek, for some reason this fly always produces.
I was never a fan of the flies color composition but, it works... can't argue with success!
Joaniebo - Those are excellent variations. I'm digging your abdomen dubbing color.

Re: Spider fishing video.
Luke always posts nice videos like this. He makes some very nice cane rods as well, had the pleasure of casting one back in April.

Re: Imitative Living Scud Pattern (SBS Tutorial)
Is that the wax I made and passed around a couple years back? I still have a bunch of that stuff somewhere. That turned out awesome for doing just this and coloring silks!
