HI Ray,
It was great to seeing you on saturday. I didn't realize that you were going to fish with Ed. Jeff and I ended up there as well and would have joined you. Thanks for the great shots and I look forward to seeing you over the winter and the next gathering.

Re: Building a soft yarn nymph body?
So as long as we seem to be drifting (no pun intended) away from soft hackles to some extent, here's another method I learned from fly tier Greg Heffner of NY. He will take the tine from a plastic fork and lash it to the hook creating a perfectly tapered nymph body shape. It's light and can be easil...

Re: Clark's Dubbing Blocks
I've been playing around with some home made vise bases and found some vinyl bumper feet to be very sticky and work well to keep things from sliding around. They're very thin (about 3/16") and have a good peel and stick adhesive. Might be worth a try on the bottom of the block. Lowes or home de...

Re: Organza Softy
Hi guys. I reposted this thread because the Organza Softy has made it into a new book by Tony Lolli, author of Go-To Flies. The new book will contain 200 patterns by tiers from around the world. I'll have two flies represented in the book but I'm especially proud of this soft hackle and the way it h...

Re: Organza Softy
Hi Bert. Thanks for the link. It always makes me chuckle when I see a product that's readily available through regular sources, put into a package and sold as the latest and greatest mystery fly tying miracle. For instance you can buy 2 - 2" x 3" sheets of 2mm foam for $1.75 at a fly shop,...

Re: West plates
Hi Mike, Let me add my thanks for these wonderful plates. As a graphic designer, I appreciate the color correction work you did. It looks superb. I was fortunate enough to see the original Dr. Edgar Burke water color plates for Ray Bergman's Trout. They are painted on what is now an off white, brown...

Re: I have this gray cat....
My African Grey parrot has on more than one occasion supplied me with some very nice soft hackle feathers. Here's a link to a post on this forum from a while back. I also use his dropped tail feathers as a scarlet ibis imitation. http://www.flymphforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=63&p=120&hi...
