Re: Dark Hare's Ear Spider (Leisenring Style)
Hi Ray: Great fly and dubbing brush machine. How did you anchor the turning knob to the wood? I made a dubbing machine but my knob rests too high above the wood block, causing my thread and wire to rise too high, creating a large gap between the block and the turner. I don't know if this can be unde...

Re: 10' Rods
You'll love the SnowBee rod. I have the 5/6 weight. I fished it out West and it fished nymphs and dries equally well. I also fished the Grey's 5 weight and fell in love with that blank, too. Like I said, I planning o buying one of those in addition to my SnowBee. I feel guilt about spending the money...

Re: The delight of a balanced leader.....
I think we've all, one time or another, found ourselves fishing with a leader that isn't balanced. I haven't had much of a problem since I began tying my own. I like the flexibility of tying my own to my satisfaction. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with store bought leaders because I used th...

Re: 10' Rods
I've fished both the Dan Craft 10-footer and the Grey Stream Flex 5 wt. 10-footer and they are excellent rods. I forgot to mention that I was nymphing and swinging wet flies on the dropper and both rods were plenty quick enough with the hook set. Unfortunately, I can't comment on how they cast dry f...

Re: Micro Spiders
When there is a hatch I often fish a PT Wet fly with black hackle and do pretty well with it as a trailer to the dry. Sometimes I fish it in the film and other times I liked it to break the surface.

Re: Interesting technique.
Hi Hans: Did you split the antron in half before twisting and winding it on the hook or did you use a whole strand? I guess what I'm asking is a whole stran too fat? Also, when you write "twisted acrylic" is that just another name for antron?
Thanks,
Bruce

Re: Step by Step photos of tying "Hair Soft Hackles"
That is an interesting tutorial by Sandy Pittendrigh. Thanks for posting it. That's a neat method of keeping the bead tight and hackling at the same time.
