Little Dark Watchet Pritt #19

Hook. Daiichi 1480 size 12.
Silk. Pearsalls Gossamer orange #19.
Body. Orange and purple silk dubbed with water rat. I subbed pine squirrel.
Wing. Water hen.
Legs. Coot clipped.

It's in the name of the fly and the wing is the correct length.
The legs on the fly are Golden Plover light neck feather.The pattern is hundreds of years old!

Have wanted this book for a long time. The 1886 printing of North Country Flies by T.E.Pritt.

Landrail subs.

American Woodcock under covert far different than European wood cock appear to make a suitable substitute for Landrail.Harry Darbee recommended this back in the day.

No. 49 From T.E. Pritts book. North Country Flies. This fly calls for a Hackle of landrail under covert. The Invicta an early 1800's pattern by Jane's Ogden has a Hackle of English Jay.
