Re: Bi-colored Dubbing Brushes

I have been doing this to use in tying Czech style nymphs, usually make them the primary color with the strip in the middle to make the hot spot.

Re: Of tying and hunting....

I used to upland hunt with my Brittany, but I have moved around a bit for my job and gave up hunting as it got tough find new spots and deal with the guns, etc. It hurts to have to buy pheasant, grouse, woodcock and quail feathers now. When I retire, I hope to get back into it.

Re: Traffic light hot spot spider

I really do prefer real corks rather then those new plastic ones.

Oh... nice fly by the way, excellent body work.

Best,
Greg

Re: Waterhen Bloa

Cookshill might have some waterhen left, I got a bag of loose feathers earlier in the year and then just recently an entire skin.

Hans - if you are in a real pinch, PM me your address and I'll drop a few feathers in the mail to you.

Re: my new addition to tools

Wasatch has a spiral brush with plastic bristols and is thus softer, I use it quite a bit. Of course like all their tools its a bit costly, but looks quite lovely.

Re: vices.

I have a Renzetti master, an original Xuron and a pamola fly lathe. I agree with most others that for tying soft hackles, the rotary doesn't really help so I use my xuron since it provides a lot of accessibility to the hook. The pamola I have angled very high and use it mostly for tying small flies ...

Re: head cement

For freshwater fishing flies, I don't bother since the whip finish holds so well. For swaps and looks I use a coat of thin tyerite and then 2 coats of orvis high gloss.

Re: finally

I do get a similar response from the other lady in my life.... she is a red head and has a cold nose and has contributed some feathers with her pointing an retrieving skills. :-) She seemed very excited about the waterhen that arrived today!
