Catching fish while stripping in the fly, after the dangle, has baffled me as well. I get it when I'm steelhead or salmon fishing streamers, but stripping in a nymph and it gets slammed???
Not complaining though.

I'd tie this one on a #6 and use it for carp.

Re: Fly Fish Food Caddis Emerger
It works.
The fact that there was a caddis hatch going on at the time played no part in the success. lol

Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
All I have ever used is my Redington Hydrogen 4wt Switch rod. Fortunately, I fish streams that are pretty open so that 11-6 length hasn't been an issue. I use a 200 grain SA Scandi line and T-8 MOW tips. Working for me so far. Going to Montana and Yellowstone in September. It will really get put thr...

Fly Fish Food Caddis Emerger
I get those emails from Fly Fish Food with the tutorials for their latest patterns. Most of the time I ignore them but their last one was for a Caddis Emerger. Since I haven't been able to get out fishing I figured I give this one a shot. Had most of the materials except for the Antron Z yarn (whate...

DarrellP , Howdy; Who hasn't fished for Bluegill/panfish :?: Time Honored phase for development for mankind. It's how I (sorta), learned to fly cast. Re: Is pink the "secret sauce"?
The first day of my trip to Alaska I asked my guide what color fly I should use. He told me any color will work as long as it is pink.

Re: March Brown Flymph (swap flies)
Oh I have to tie me some of these. I'll lose the one from the swap and regret not having more.
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing.
