LOL!--Here's an exceptional piece of lumber: an Allcock 7' Greenheart with a 2 5/8" Hardy Sunbeam:

Now that is some serious craftsmanship. That thing is outrageously gorgeous.

Re: Favorite Rod Configuration

When the Radian was a fairly new rod on the market, I went to test one. The guys at the shop wanted me to try the Sage One and compare it against the Radian, and they were pushing the One. I couldn't cast that thing to save my life. I kept looking for the on & off switch on that rod to get it t...

As I understand it, that “plus” designation is what indicates the extension. Didn’t know that they came in different lengths. It’s a cool concept and they executed it well with being able to store the extra piece on the rod.

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets

I have the 10’ 4 weight Streamflex and found it to be good fun for casts of 3 soft hackles. I didn’t know when I bought it about the Streamflex plus 3 weight that had the extra piece, that would’ve been nice.

Re: Favorite Rod Configuration

Roadkill, thanks for your thoughts on that. So what does the “b” in “llb” indicate? Is that “LL Blank” to differentiate that you added your own components? Is that the original LL lineup or the new one?

Re: Favorite Rod Configuration

I have two favorites that I have built: #1 is a Sage 490 LLB for finer presentation and small flies that took a slight edge over a previous Loomis 4 weight. ;) #2 is a Sage 690-4 RPL that is my workhorse rod for everyday use especially if the wind is up a little. For ease of travel I have Cabela's ...

Re: Favorite Rod Configuration

But for me, I particularly don't like fast action. In my graphite rods when it comes to fishing wets and dries, my Scott G2 884 or my T&T Aeros 904, both medium action are what I like. With the softer tips and hard hits, I don't break my tippet off like faster rods are known to do. I ended up s...

Wet Flies/Soft Hackles for Georgia

I'm so impressed by the recent post regarding soft hackles on the Madison and Firehole. I am still learning the methods and flies; and as such was hoping for a bit of advice regarding flies for Georgia. A lot of my fishing is in the Chattahoochee tailwater, and I'm venturing further North for the fr...

Re: Favorite Rod Configuration

A barrel of rods? That sounds like quite a collection. Those old reels are so cool looking. I really like the modern reels we are getting today, lots of good looking pieces of equipment. But nothing is as charming as the old ones.
