Awesome local fly. Sometimes change it up and add a touch of flash to the wing, really gets those brookies moving!

Re: Lindgren's Olive Nymph
Norm, Beautiful fly as always. It says the abdomen is dubbed with olive marabou. Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean you took some fluff of a feather and put it in a dubbing loop? Does it still retain a little of its lifelike motion when dubbed? Love seeing your work here and on reddit. Thanks ...

That looks fantastic, I might have to steal that pattern for the Montana trip this year.

Moose and Ruffed Grouse
Here in Maine the last few days of the fishing season (end of September) now coincide with the first few days of the bird hunting season. This created a new holiday weekend for a "cast and blast" that is already common in many other states. For this I used moose mane and ruffed grouse (wha...

Oh my gosh, those are gorgeous flies! I would frame that series of 3 in a heartbeat.
It will take a few years, but those are the flies I aspire to tie. Thanks for the inspiration

Re: Alewife fishing
Ron, You inspired me to go specifically target alewives and my god you were right! One actually bent my rod tip into the water after his 5th big jump! I had only accidentally snagged them before when brookie fishing but your tip about stripping small soft hackles or nymphs like a streamer was just t...

Re: Cree Spider
Ron, That is an absolutely gorgeous fly!
I now understand what you have said about cree and the properties of silk. Amazing how much the color will change when wet.
You will be hard pressed to find a fish in the whole state that wouldn't eat that!

Pheasant Tail Soft Hackle

He has been helping me a LOT with my tying and it has come a very long way in a short time under his gu...
