Roadkill, that's a great photo of the fly comparison. Thanks for posting. I have used the drowned Trico at spinner time in the faster water....works like a charm.

Ed Engle from Colorado has a video on tying this fly. He uses wire for the body. He winds the wire on the hook in a very unique way that reduces bulk. I've fished this pattern in the riffles during a Trico spinner fall and I had better luck with the drowned Trico than fishing the dry spinner in the ...

I have two rods that I use for nymphing. They are both from the mid-late 80's. My rod of choice for small to mid sized streams is a SAGE LL 9' 4wt.
