Re: Rods for fishing flymphs and soft hackles
I've fished SA Scandi Lites of 150 and 180 grains on 3 and 4 weights on small streams with good results. I'm looking forward to hitting the Lehigh in PA, which is a pretty good sized river (for this area), with a 10'4" single handed 6 wt. and an SA mastery expert distance 6 wt. line. I think it...

Re: New
In lieu of sighter wax, try giving Sakura solid paint a try. I particularly like the fluorescent colors. You can remove it from the leader with an alcohol wipe. I keep a wipe in a pillbox and it lasts all day.

Re: New Digital Book / “The Flies That Trout Prefer”
After a lifetime of programming computers, I'm digital only. I find holding a physical book while reading incredibly burdensome. Plus, just like my RPN calculator, nobody borrows my stuff.

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets
How do you like that Rio SHS 3D line? I’ve got the Streamflex Plus 4wt and was eyeing the Rio SHD WFF line in a 4wt. Do you think the 3D is better for swinging soft hackles than the WF? Oh, absolutely. It's really my favorite line for swinging. I've got it in 3,4, and 6 weights. Nice slow swing, an...

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets
For the last few years I've used an Orvis 10' 3wt. euro rod. This year I'm trying something different and so far I like it a lot. It's an OPST micro skagit 9'9" 3 wt. It provides a lot of flexibility as it casts a 150-175 gr. skagit , 180 SA Scandi Lite, and a 3wt. Wulff Triangle Taper, all wel...

Re: Shoulder problems = new rod
I had that same rod. I really liked a 5wt. Wulff Ambush and 5ft. Polyleaders.

Re: Switch Rods ?
You might want to consider the Rio Single Hand Spey. It comes in both floating and sinking. I use the 3wt. 3D sinking on my 10' 3wt. Orvis Recon, and the 6wt floating with a 5' sinking polyleader on my 3wt. Redington trout spey. Both for swinging pairs of small wets.
