Re: Brown Drake Nymph
The closer I look, the more I like every aspect of this pattern (color, profile, proportions, lively elements, fish-appeal, and execution). Marvelous in each category. When are we going fishing? I need to “borrow” some flies... ;) Thank you, truly appreciate it. There is also a wink of fl...

Re: Brown Drake Nymph
Glad to hear you had a great trip.... thanks for the closeup, you have a nice pattern there. Good photo, too!! Well thanks! Trying to improve my fly photos. Bought the latest, greatest iPhone when my phone went wet-wading with me on a smallmouth trip a few weeks ago. Caught my biggest smallmouth ev...

Haha These spiders were tied from the hackle tips left from the Brown Drake Nymphs (see Nymph page). 2x heavy, short nymph hook. Watery Olive UTC 70. Split-thread bleached ginger poss...

Brown Drake Nymph
Made these up for summer trip. They worked! Had in mind a brown drake nymph. Not sure if that’s what the fish took it for. Used the longer, lower barbs of grouse feathers for the tail and legs, and saved the tips for spiders (stay tuned). Abdomen is some kind of hare’s ear + antron blend with a wink...

Very nice tie, sir. I like the bit of shagginess in the dubbing.

Ronr- those look good. Have thought about some UV stuff but haven’t gotten around to it. Have used the UV stuff on some Copper Johns and Jujubaetis.

Re: The Violet Midge Spider.
I may have caught one fish ever on a starling purple (too lazy to buy snipe). Purple zebra midges, however, kill.
