Re: SOFT~ HACKLE JOURNAL
Thanks for the kind words guys. Just getting going.
Soft~Hackle Journal is only a name. Wingless wets will get a lot of ink, but it's not about just that. Would like to insert more literature, actually.

This is a beautifully photographed book and very informative. I can definitely see the influence of flymph tyers, as you mentioned. Well done, my friend.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Ron, you haven't received your book yet? If you don't get it within the next couple days let me know & I'll look into it. Those who read TS&TAOTS may recognize that many of the fly dressings given in the fly catalogue section are informed by what I've learned...

Re: Dick's Killer Bucktail
Steve, did you post that yet? Always looking for homemade stuff that actually works. I used a semi-straight paperclip as a dubbing twister for years. Last class I taught I gave everyone a paperclip and a section of soda straw. Dubbing hook and hackle guard, free of charge. Ron, here it is. dubbing ...

Re: Hustler Flymph
Ron, here is the spinning tool. Coat hanger wire about 6" long, the crook is slightly open. With practice it can be spun fast, rolled between the palms, or it can be twirled with your fingers which is slower, but who's in a hurry? The price is right.

Re: Hustler Flymph
Thanks Ray. The hackle is natural welsumer brahma hen. Not dyed. What I love about the welsumer is that the barring is so distinct, & the brown coloration has a translucent glow. Order some chicks in the spring & by late fall you'll have it. Down to a partial cape so considering raising a f...

Re: Hustler Flymph
Is the Brahma hen dyed, or natural? I’m guessing it is dyed. Superbly fishable art. Very well done. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Ray. The hackle is natural welsumer brahma hen. Not dyed. What I love about the welsumer is that the barring is so distinct, & the brown coloration has a translucent gl...

Re: Dick's Killer Bucktail
Beautiful pattern Steve and as Ray said, It's good to see you posting again! It sounds like you need a hobby to occupy your time! Might we suggest fly fishing and tying? You are indeed a busy man! Gotta admire you for that! Dougsden I couldn't determine if the original had wire, however I did wind ...
