"What are some of your favorite soft hackle flies for still waters? " Howdy all . . . Enjoy using this pattern, eyes are plastic bead chain, body SLF dubbing, unweighted fished on a floating line, weighted on a full sinking line. [URL=http://s202.photobucket.com/user/JohnRaynsford/media/Fl...

The hare's ear and pheasant neck collar is quite effective on the shallow riffles. Been probing the deep ho...

Thanks Dubbn, for posting the Grannom Pupa by Hans Weilenmann. Instead of the lighter colored body that Hans has in the video, I used the dark natural Hare's ear and pheasant neck collar. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa230/JohnRaynsford/IMGP5743.jpg Used a Mustad C49S caddis curved hook in #14...

Pheasant neck feathers, Suggestions ?
Greetings to all ... Recently acquired two nice olive pheasant skins, I've been admiring the coloring and sheen of the neck feathers. Re: Partridge & Orange variation for stillwaters ?
John, I would suggest tying the hackle in reverse, like you see on the Kabari Tenkara flies. The other suggestion is to tie the hackle longer than you might generally tie a soft hackle to impart a more swimming action the fly when worked in Stillwater. Thanks for the suggestions. I'd never even tho...

Partridge & Orange variation for stillwaters ?
Greetings to all, last winter reading through the various discussions of softhackled patterns. I'm applying what I've gathered to specific angling situations here in my home waters. The Susitna River drainage has many bodies of water which are tributaries but some are stillwaters (lakes) surrounded ...
