When I read Hank's email, I thought he was going to say use wax paper and an iron...
Although he didn't, I suspect that might be an idea: a cool iron and parchment paper (probably better for the iron than the wax paper).
Just a thought.

Dave Hughes tying videos
Hi All, The water's too low and the days are too warm to do much fishing here in Western NY, so like many others here I dream of the coming autumn season, tie flies, and watch fly tying videos for inspiration. If you're a fan of Dave Hughes, there are several new, well produced videos of him tying w...

Very nicely done, beautifully photographed, and well explained.
Thanks so much, Ray! This will be most useful.

Re: Sunny Morning and a Fish Story About Tenkara Carp
Well, you've proved me wrong!
I couldn't imagine how you'd get through the initial run (and I was thinking 10#, not 5x tippet!)... I hadn't thought of letting go of the rod!
Great job!

Sorry to break the flow of the thread... http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f198/wandersonnow/Best%20of%202016/Waterhen%20and%20Turkey%203_zps9gixhsnt.jpg I've been thinking of photography a lot of late, and I have to say that I generally appreciate your pictures, but this one is really beautifully d...

Re: Leisenring's Tups Nymph
Thanks for your reply, William. If I'm tying silk-bodied soft hackles, I generally just use waxed Pearsall's Gossamer silk... mainly because it's faster, and not too much different from using tying thread, besides the diameter, of course. If I'm tying soft hackles with a body of something else - twi...

Further play. http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y449/scullionchilds/_CRL7825_zpsxdd2fvbq.jpg Those hackle tips are no fun to tie in with unwaxed buttonhole thread, let me tell you. Tried a different hook, too - a Gaelic Supreme 7029T. I think I like the looks of the longer shank on the earlier Dai...

Re: Leisenring's Tups Nymph
The recipe calls for hackle points, which I never picked up on, but I was tying with Dave Hughes this weekend in Philly and this was the first time I had seen anyone tie in actual hen hackle tips, like the points we might use for wings on a Catskill dry. They seemed big, and having never seen them ...
